Photography

The yearbook photographer is one of the most important jobs for our club!
Below are some tips to follow to ensure that we are using the highest photography standards for shooting for the yearbook.

  • DONT USE YOUR CAMERA PHONE! We do have divider pages that are created by our Instagram feed but those images are very small in the yearbook and meant to look like I phone Quality.
  • You do not need a DSLR camera of your own to be a yearbook photographer. Yearbook has cameras to check out. Ms.Mangano can show you specific features one on one for the yearbook cameras.
  • Make sure you have a charged battery and a SD card with plenty of space!
  • CHECK YOUR BACKGROUND! Make sure someone is not sabotaging your images! We cannot have any hand signs--not even a peace sign in the yearbook. It is our yearbook reps policy.
  • Edit--If you are not familiar with Photoshop there are many free editing programs that can help you tweak your images.
  • Edit-We want our images to look magazine quality not tumbler quality.. No creative filters or shapes can be added to images in the yearbook.

  • RULE OF THIRDS! this will help especially when you are photographing a clubs apposed to sports when people are moving around a lot.
    • Think of the frame of your camera like a tic tac toe board
    • You want your subject to fall right on the  cross hairs of to the side to create an image that is ascetically pleasing.

Notice the red lines in the image above. Those lines are the "imaginary" rule of thirds lines. Place the most important part of your subject on those lines.

Here is an example without the lines.
